Dr. Dorothy Merritt is returning to Dickinson after 28 years to join St. Elizabeth Family Care and Wellnow Health to continue her practice of Internal Medicine and EDTA Chelation.

Dr. Merritt will see patients Monday through Friday 8am—5pm and Saturday 8am—1pm.

Dorothy Merritt has been practicing in Galveston County since 1987 when she completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor in Houston. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and also was board certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine from 2000-2007 during which time she also worked for Galveston Hospice (Hospice Care Team now). She has been active in public health initiatives and served on numerous boards and committees. She was a principal investigator in the national TACT (Trial to Assess Chelation Therapy) and is a site for TACT 2.

She actively educates Physician Assistant students in their final year of training and is an adjunct faculty member of George Washington University in DC, an associate professor at UTMB, and a PA preceptor for Lincoln Memorial University. Dr. Merritt actively lectures for ACAM on lead toxicity and is a member of multiple medical societies. She is credentialed at local hospitals but uses an Inpatient specialist to hospitalize her patients.

Her outpatient practice consists of adult medicine with an integrative flavor combining genetics, environmental medicine, lead treatments, nutritional therapies, and has a clinic full of high-tech machines for diagnosis and treatment. She has a large chelation practice and is now certified to provide BioTe hormonal pellets. She is married to Rob Merritt, has two grown daughters and a grandson. She is an avid reader, loves backgammon and enjoys traveling.
